At Tabel Catering, food is such a big part of our lives. We can think of few greater pleasures than enjoying a meal with friends and family. It’s the simple act of eating, drinking and sharing in conversation with those we love, celebrating life’s great milestones with a sense of style and occasion.

Fresh, flavourful, generous food served in style

Founded on decades of experience in our own restaurants and award-winning catering company and borne from a genuine love of cooking, our business model is simple. We offer flavoursome and authentic food, crafted from fresh, seasonal and ethical ingredients showcasing the bounty of premium local produce available to us.

We have catered for hundreds of weddings and events, it’s what we do best and we have the awards to prove it. Our food is generous and flavourful, all made in-house using the freshest of seasonal and local produce.

Platters are served to the table for guests to serve themselves ensuring a relaxed, convivial environment where everyone has a fantastic time.

Together John Gabel and Amy Hage are Tabel Catering. Both are award-winning chefs with decades of experience in restaurants and catering, committed to providing fantastic food and great service. They pride themselves on making as much as possible in-house using the freshest, seasonal and local produce.

  • John Gabel: "My grandmother taught me to cook when I was young – on weekends we’d make cakes and traditional dishes from her German heritage. From there I decided to make it my career, learning from some of the best in the industry. I’ve worked in kitchens all over Adelaide gaining skills and experience, honing my own style… simple, honest and generous food that satisfies. Even after all these years, I’m still learning and enjoy every day in the kitchen where I get to prepare great food for people who love to eat."
  • Amy Hage: "When I was a child, my mother cooked simple, honest, hearty meals but I longed for something creative, new, innovative and exciting. My food is a modern interpretation of those old school classics, the best of both worlds. I love to share food and get so much enjoyment from cooking for others – I love to see the enjoyment that good food brings and I love to enjoy other people’s food too.I grow some of my own food at home and am teaching my two young girls that good food doesn’t need to be complicated – it’s about using quality ingredients with skill. Sounds simple doesn’t it!"
