From 11 November, the House Museum will come alive with Christmas trees, handmade decorations and the glow of the festive season, families are invited to step inside and discover stories of Christmas past and make a few new memories of their own.
This year, the Christmas display brings Adelaide Christmas Pageant history into the House, with special treasures from the South Australian Tourism Commission’s Pageant Warehouse and private lenders. Meet beloved Pageant characters Nipper and Nimble, and discover the story of Carrick Hill’s connection to the man who helped create Adelaide’s Christmas Pageant, Sir Edward “Bill” Hayward.
Then let the children lead the way as the Christmas Mouse Hunt returns for its third year. Who knows where those mischievous little mice might be hiding?
And, of course, no Christmas at Carrick Hill would be complete without a visit with Father Christmas.
Come for the Christmas magic, stay for the stories, and perhaps begin a new Carrick Hill tradition of your own.
Please note: Father Christmas visits and Meet Nipper & Nimble sessions are individual events and require a separate ticket. These tickets are not included with House Museum or Christmas Mouse Hunt entry.

Christmas Mouse Hunt
The Carrick Hill Christmas Mouse Hunt is back for its magical third year.
Follow the Pageant-themed trail through the beautifully decorated historic House Museum and keep your eyes peeled for mischievous mice hiding throughout the rooms. Along the way, discover Pageant-inspired clues and see what surprises the mice have been getting up to!
Solve the clues, jot down your answers and complete the hunt to receive a special Christmas prize.

Meet Nipper and Nimble
Step inside the historic Carrick Hill Stables and meet Nipper and Nimble, the much-loved life-sized horse figures who brought joy to generations of South Australian children in the Magic Cave at John Martin's each Christmas.
Enjoy a 10-minute session where you can get up close to these gentle horses, hear a little about their special place in Adelaide's Christmas tradition, and capture some memorable photos together. Please check the booking page for session times.

Father Christmas Sessions
Join us for traditional visits with Father Christmas, where guests can enjoy a relaxed and intimate atmosphere reminiscent of Christmases past.
Share your Christmas wishes, engage in delightful conversation with the jolly old man himself, and create lasting memories. Last year's sessions sold out, so please book early to avoid disappointment.

Pet Friendly Sessions with Father Christmas
Set amongst the beautiful grounds of Carrick Hill, these special 5-minute sessions are made just for pets and their people. Your furry friend will have the chance to meet Father Christmas and capture a magical festive moment together, creating a Christmas memory you’ll treasure for years to come.
These sessions are a fun, quick photo opportunity, so you’re welcome to use your own phone or camera to capture the moment.
