About the workshop:

Botanical Art is a beautiful classic art practice for those who love nature, gardening, botany, science and art! Join New Zealand artist Dr Tabatha Forbes and create elegant botanical drawings inspired by specimens from the beautiful gardens of Carrick Hill. Tabatha’s drawing workshop is a guided introduction to the elegant tradition of botanical art, working with drawing simple plant forms, composition and pencil & pen drawing techniques.

The course fee includes all materials needed to use in class.

This workshop will be held in the Almond Grove at Carrick Hill if the weather permits. If not, the class will take place in the gallery. Please dress for the outdoors, including warm/cool clothes, sun protection and insect repellent as needed.

About Dr Tabatha Forbes

Tabatha has a Doctorate in Fine Arts from the University of Auckland, New Zealand. As a multi- disciplinary practicing artist, she has devoted her arts career to working as an artist, arts administrator, writer and tutor. Her studies and practice focus on connecting creativity with her love of nature.

She has lived and worked in New Zealand and the South Pacific. In Taranaki, New Zealand she owned a gallery and studio and has been teaching Beginners Botanical and Nature Journaling workshops for over twenty years. She moved to Adelaide in January 2024 with a focus on adding Australia’s vibrant flora, fauna and botanical history to her studies.
