Thursday August 15 | 10.00 am in the Great Hall, Carrick Hill

The use of silver dates from the earliest historic records. It was one of the earliest metals used to make coins and its malleability has made it suitable for use in jewellery, ornaments, lustrous silverware and many other uses.

Learn more about this unique and precious metal and discover hidden treasures, including some pieces in the Carrick Hill collection, from our guest speaker Richard Phillips.

Richard has a long-standing interest in silverwork and is a member of the Silver Society of Australia and the Australiana Society. He has contributed articles to the journals of each of these and carried out research for the book Nineteenth Century Australian Silver by John Hawkins. He was also involved in research and sourcing objects for the exhibition Bounty mounted by the Art Gallery of SA.

Cost: $25.00 per person (includes a raffle ticket drawn on the day)
