Inspired by crystalline structures, geometry and string theory, PLEXUS sits at the intersection of science and art. Conceived as a pivotal nexus point, it beckons individuals to converge at a singular place in time. Designed to travel and be photographed in different locations, from theatres to gardens, from forests to salt lakes, PLEXUS transcends its materiality, resonating with the environments it inhabits, and the communities it engages. The work will leave a trail on the map, highlighting the interconnectedness of space, memory, and human experience. PLEXUS is a quest for balance, bridging tangible sculpture with the intangible essence of its surroundings. PLEXUS is part of the 2024 SALA Festival program.

OAKEY is a multidisciplinary artist based on Kaurna Yerta (Adelaide, South Australia). Her practice encompasses sculpture, site-specific installations, performance, video, and sound. Working out of Central Studios, she creates nuanced responses to both urban and natural environments using a diverse range of materials.Drawing from her immersive experiences in varied natural settings, from the Amazon to Timbuktu, OAKEY has developed a profound fascination with the interconnectedness of the living world and our relationship to it. Her creative process delves into the realms of unseen forces, networks, and spaces, operating on both a cellular and cosmic level. Her work particularly focuses on exploring consciousness, hidden energies, and the healing power of plants and nature, while also incorporating her keen interest in science, geometry, and architecture.Since completing her Bachelor of Creative Arts degree with first-class honours in 2019, OAKEY has been awarded studio residencies at ACE and George St Studios, and has received a Guildhouse Catapult mentorship with Catherine Truman, as well as a glassblowing mentorship at the JamFactory. In 2022, OAKEY's ephemeral artwork Reverence was awarded first prize at the Heysen Sculpture Biennial and was featured in Artlink magazine.
