Carrick Hill "In Bloom" is a floral exhibition throughout Carrick Hill House for the duration of 2023 Nature Festival of SA by ‘floral designer in residence’ Sky Allen of Aracadia aquatic.
The exhibition ‘In Bloom’ explores a contemporary response to the themes of home, flora, personal art collections and nature, in the memorable spaces of Ursula and Bill Hayward’s home Carrick Hill. See the historic rooms of Carrick Hill in a new light with a series of contemporary floral installations and sculptures in dialogue with the Hayward's renowned collection of artwork and furniture.
Arcadia aquatic is the creative studio of floral designer Sky Allen. Arcadia aquatic sculptures and installations are forged in exploration of sustainability and sense of place, challenging mainstream floristry conventions, and prompting flower lovers to ask more questions. Sky brings a background in landscape architecture and public space design to her work. Her art practice examines the human experience of place, space, form and materials through the medium of fresh and dried flora of all shapes and sizes, including sea flora. Arcadia aquatic projects explore how floral designs can celebrate our specific bio region, its layers of floral histories, and the essence of what makes Tarntanya/Adelaide. Arcadia aquatic has created pieces for hospitality experiences such as Restaurant Botanic and Africola Canteen, fashion labels, festival events, and private commissions.
Entry to Carrick Hill "In Bloom", together with entry to the "Adelaide Mid-Century Moderns" exhibition, is included for the price of House admission.
