In this short course participants will learn a range of embroidery techniques, to create their own contemporary sampler. Skills taught will range from basic embroidery stitches, to beginner blackwork embroidery, as well as some goldwork and raised embroidery techniques. Alongside skill development we will examine contemporary textile practices and explore how stitch traditions can be understood and applied in unconventional ways for current times. This course is designed for participants with minimal embroidery experience through to those with prior knowledge.

Basic materials supplied (includes needle, threads, fabrics, with scissors, hoops and other materials available to use in class). Students are however encouraged to bring their own materials should they wish.
