Children’s Literary Trail
This story walk is a half kilometre trail with three themed areas to explore and discover. It is suitable for strollers.
First the Hobbit House then over the troll bridge to the Secret Garden and finally in the olive grove: elephants, tiger and zebra of the Jungle Book stories.
As you walk around the trail there are many things to engage the imagination and enchant the eye. Birds are everywhere at Carrick Hill: black & white cockatoos, parrots, herons, ducks and maggies.
(located on the perimeter of Carrick Hill – opening times apply)

Petanque at Carrick Hill
Carrick Hill has a Petanque Piste located beyond the hedge on the western side of the Tennis Lawn. Ball sets are available for play from the Security Office in the House, see the House attendant.

Adrian Feint: Cornucopia
The exhibition will include bookplates, prints and drawings as well as over fifty paintings of floral still life and landscapes. It will be the first major exhibition of this important Australian artist ever mounted and the first publication on his work since 1948 when Syd Ure Smith published: Adrian Feint Flower Paintings. Director Richard Heathcote has been able to curate this exhibition because of funds contributed by the Carrick Hill Development Foundation for the research and development required to locate the works and secure them fromprivate lenders as well as public collections. Many of these paintings have not been seen in public before and will surprise and delight visitors.

Carrick Hill Home Show
The guest wing of Carrick Hill will be set back in place for the summer season for visitors to enjoy the guest bedrooms and their stylish 1940s decor. The working life of the house will be presented explaining the servant’s roles in post war Australia and the rise of the Electric servant such as the Lady ‘K’ refrigerator Carrick Hill. This domestic machine has just been acquired as well as a 46 piece majolica dinner service once owned by Ursula Hayward and both will be displayed in the Butler’s Pantry. Also on display in the corridor of the guest wing are photographs of Carrick Hill by Mick Bradley entitled ‘Portrait of a Place’. This prominent Adelaide photographer captures evocative images of the house interiors, garden and collections in 2007 to celebrate the centenary of Ursula Hayward’s birth.
